So long yesteryear

Ringing in the new year with glitter, of course.

Tis the season for splurging, so Dre (lil bro) and I decided to trot over to The Counter. A build your own burger joint that's recently graced the city of Houston. Though I'm technically a pescatarian, I will ocasionaly indulge in the American tradition of a big ol burger or in this case, a children's menu "mini burgers".

Christmas Wish

Wouldn't it be magical if a Laduree vehicle flew across the ocean like the magic school bus and gracefully appeared in my driveway on Christmas morning delivering all sorts of deliciousness!
Now that would be the best Christmas breakfast EVER.

Sunnies Delivered

A vibrant sunflower bouquet bringing color and joy was delivered to our office this week. From The Sunflower Guy, this perfectly wrapped bouquet arrived in magnificent condition. The delivery method was like nothing I'd seen before, yet very simple. The arrangement arrives in a suitable box, with clear instructions, simply unzip the opening towards the bottom, lift the lid and wala!

Because flowers are always the best way to say I love you, a perfect Christmas gift. Send your loved one some sunnies this cold winter season and light up their day via Sunflowerguy.

The HOT Wife

Julianna Marguiles, star of legal drama The Good Wife, graces the cover of Harper's Bazaar this January. Cinched in incredibly hot ensembles, the actress dominates the lingerie themed shoot.

Plain Jane

Not looking very cinched these days, Christmas shopping calls for simplicity and comfort. This white sack has become my favorite Christmas carryall, but with its color and size I feel I must sport plain sweaters and jeans with it.

"Houston rated America's No.1 shopping city"- CultureMap

Must be why I'm here...

"When it comes to shopping meccas, the Galleria and the rest of Houston simply can't be beat, according to Forbes, which has ranked us as the top American city for shopping.
To measure what makes a city click for both fashionistas and bargain hounds, Forbes tallied the number of major shopping centers, individual retail locations, the consumer price index, sales tax and even the number of Walmarts in every United States city with a population over 600,000.
Texas cities were big, with a quarter of the nation's 257 million square feet of gross leasable retail area in the state. Houston came out on top with almost 17,000 retail locations and 54 shopping centers."- CM

Pretty in Dior

Though there was no new GG episode this week, Leighton Meester still managed to blow everyone away on the red carpet. The actress graced the Country Strong's premiere in Dior Spring 2011 RTW.

Always an inspiration, Rachel Bilson looks dashing in Dior Spring 2010  dress and Brian Atwood pumps.

Dress for Success, Gardere's Grand Success

A week ago Cinched was invited to spend a delightful evening at Gardere's A Night Out benefiting Dress for Success Houston. The charming event kicked off with cocktails and shopping from various local stores, and a delightful dinner with an insightful presentation by local image consultant Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary  with how to's on fashion forward pieces and various trends.

"Through support from Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, the tenth annual A Night Out, held Dec. 1 at The Westin Galleria, generated more than $150,000 to benefit Dress for Success® Houston. The record-breaking amount raised at this year’s benefit will not only enable Dress for Success Houston to purchase 500 suits to help women in the greater Houston area look and feel confident throughout the interview process, but also provide program support and scholarships to more than 4,000 women in 2011."

Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary, Event chair and Gardere banking partner Liz Crowell, Event Emcee and ABC Channel 13 anchor Sharron Melton, and Dress for Success Houston president and co-founder Nancy Levicki

Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary

Along with the delightful presentation by Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary, I was enlightened by the history and purpose of Dress for Success from various Dress for Success Alumni sharing their stories. Providing women with the attire, preparation and confidence to approach the job market Dress for Success Houston has served more than 26,000 women since 1998.
"The mission of Dress for Success Houston is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."- Dress for Success

Country Gwyneth

Gorgeous bombshell Gwyneth Paltrow blew away the country crowd at this year's CMAs with her performance of "Country Strong" the theme song for her new film co starring Leighton Meister and Tim Mcgraw. Aside from her amazing voice I had no clue of, I'm obsessed with her LBD. The Oscar winning actress looked drop dead gorgeous and belted like an angel sporting a Lanvin Spring 2011 LBD and Brian Atwood booties.

There is something about the Holidays that makes me adorn myself like a tree. Isn't the tree topping the most important? The star or angel placed at the very top representing the Star of Bethlehem. Well, so should your head adornments, check out Benoit Missolin masterpieces.

Travel Toes

No matter how long it may take me to go through security I refuse to tip toe through that metal detector with my bare feet, eeek, think of all the icky stuff you can pick up as you anxiously await your bags! When not traveling in boots, I always throw a pair of comfy socks in my carryon, that way I slip them on as I take off my shoes in the security line.

Label Crush: LeMel Designs

More than jewelry itself, Cinched loves to pick the minds behind the creations we adorn ourselves with. Over a weekend Aspen wedding, Cinched caught the eye of an amazing turquoise piece sported by one of the bridesmaids.  The beautiful adorned lady is Texan native Melanie Pritchett, mastermind behind Lemel Designs sporting her own creation. A geek for adornments, Cinched quickly interrogated the talented designer on her coveted pieces.
Available through Lemel Designs or Etsy Shop, her creations vary in style. "My jewelry is a little bit of everything: blissful, bright, and delicate. I use semi precious stones and all Gold Fill," shares Melanie.

" I like to create everyday pieces that have a little something extra.  I hand wire wrap each piece and make sure it is of the upmost quality.  I have a full and varied range of jewelry that marries quality and design."- Lemel designer
Behind her style: "Layering Jewelry – I love to wear at least three gold necklaces at once – layering thin gold necklaces that are all different lengths. I also love to layer bracelets – I literally just stack my wrist full.  "

" Every day I make something it becomes my new fav.  Right now I will have to go with the Cinched.  I have always been obsessed w/ Evil Eyes.  I love this one b/c it has Champagne Diamonds & Blue Sapphires," shares the designer when asked what her favorite piece from her collection is.
"I love all the champagne diamond charms.  They are all from India and mix oxidized sterling silver and 18k gold.  I’m all about wearing a staple necklace every day and then mixing it up by adding more layers. What’s so great about theses is that you can mix it with Gold or Silver.   "

Lusting after these gorgeous adornments, Cinched anxiously adds these pieces on her Christmas list.
