Post Perfect Weekend...GUILT!

I blame the spectacular weather for my not so healthy splurge themed weekend. Had a meal at almost every favorite restaurant in the city (Tiny Boxwood's, Uptown Sushi) along with a couple of newbies (Barbecue Inn, Brenner's). For a small preview of one of the deliciously guilt filled meals I consumed:
Beat It Beet Burger from Tiny Boxwoods, washed down by bottomless mimosas and in the company of old friends...yes Sunday was a Funday

How to ease the guilt for my unhealthy weekend? The April issue of Health  has just the cure:

Come on feel the noise

"GIRLS ROCK YA BOYS WE'LL GET WIIIIILD WIIIILD WIIIILD!!!" Get Wildfox that is.  I think of none other than Quiet Riot's hit single in describing my new favorite knitwear brand WILDFOX.
"She is the Native Heart, she is all neon light, she is a love child. She is a Wildfox.
Los Angeles, CA – Wildfox Couture is an American vintage-inspired women’s knitwear brand. Combining great style and unsurpassed quality, Wildfox has quickly gained a cult-like following amongst celebrities and top retailers worldwide.
Childhood friends Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon are the creative force behind Wildfox. Inspired by Native American artwork and vintage rock & roll t-shirts, the young designers gave birth to a brand that tells a story of their generation and friendship. Today, the girls spend their time visiting vintage shops and working out of their Silverlake-area design studio - where they sew their hearts on their sleeves and spread peace and love through design." - About Us on

Thursday humor brought to you via early 90's fashion. Yes, tis none other than yours truly, circa 1991,  sporting voluminous sleeves, bow cinched waist, and rouge red lips with matching shoes of course! Stylist to blame? None other than my mother. Now if only I could find those adorable patent red ballerinas, they'd go perfect with my ensemble today.

An Ode to Spanx

At first I thought you weren't for me.
Shapeware? No way! I'm only twenty.
But as jersey dresses jumped into style,
I realized I was in denial.
The second I slipped on your Tight-end tights,
my booty was poppin, not a dimple in sight!
I got them in black, midnight, and charcoal too,
Spanx, I just can't recall my life before you.
With tights, panties, camies and even swimwear,
Spanx cinches my waist and adds fabulous flair.

I share with you my latest Spanx crush from their Haute Contour line, Ravishing Rosette Camisole, not only makes an elegant top, but like the rest of their products will flatter your silhouette.

Curves are a drug...

Every summer vacation I return with overweight luggage, due not to my shopping problem, but the Italian Vogues I have collected in my stay. Recently my favorite fashion magazine, Vogue Italia, has launched Vogue Curvy, a new online section that features iconic curvy gals.
Through this fabulous section of VI online, Martina Liverani finds that "a recent US research claims that curvy women produce in men the same effects of a drug: looking at women's curves activates the same areas of the brain that are usually stimulated by drugs and alcohol." Now imagine don't like stick thin figures after all. I mean, I think my brain reacts the exact same way when I see curvy icons like:

Suit Up!

There comes a point when a young lady must admit that it is time for her to own a skirt suit. I must confess, my quest to find a suit began when I wanted to be taken a little seriously. A couple of weeks ago a mean customs agent in a Venezuelan airport interrogated me because I "clearly don't appear of age." I decided I wasn't dressing mature enough. So the search for a serious suit shall begin. How adorably dreamy is this Moschino Jacket and Skirt coordinates? Now if only I could find this getup on a clearance sale.

Spring it!

Tis the first day of  Spring! I welcome the perfect sunny weather that encourages me to attempt to run Memorial Park, the blooming apple and pear trees in my yard, and Sunday brunches at Tiny Boxwoods!
What wardrobe essential to take us through this beautiful time of year? The Perfect Spring Trench!
As this chic little lady trotting outside of the Louvre in a Carolina Herrera trench once told me "You need a simple elegant trench in a solid color you can sport year round."

Mike & Chris Marlton cotton-blend trench perfect for a city gal, also has a detachable hood to keep your locks from frizzing on those rainy spring days.

Tee Style

My daily uniform consists of black skinny jeans and a comfy black tee. Depending on the season I'll switch to black shorts, but a black tee is always a go to. I must have dozens of American Apparel Deep V Necks I just love the slimming effect a v neck cut has elongating your neck.

Still carrying some holiday weight, I've opted for a tee that well, cinches a little more. This triple threat (boots your boosoms, cinches your tummy, and love handles) Cass and Co. capp sleeve shaper top can serve as an everyday essential.

Another great tee brand I've fallen in love with is LnA. For a loose fit yet chic look, I've got their Lace Back Tee in black and in red.

LnA also makes a great Deep V Tee in an array of adorable colors.

Happy post patty's day! You had the time of your life collecting green beads last night, sipping green beverages until the wee hours of the night. Little did you think about how awful those pitchers of green beer you had would show on your face at work or class this morning. This is where Eye Slices come in, refreshing eye pads ease tired puffy eyes.

Happy Saint Patty's!

Having no clue what to wear today, the day that everyone pretends to be Irish, I opt for a green accessory. See green is not really my color, so the smaller the green accent on my enssemble, the better.

These Diane von Furstenberg Waverly Suede Ruffle Thong Sandals not only perfect to wear on St. Patty's day but these flip floppies can take you through spring and summer.

Undress your feet!

The rising temperature has forced me to store my favorite flat suede boots, that have cinched my ankles and calves for the past four months, away. The time of year has come to begin a weekly pedicure regimen and show off those toes! My blonde and always cinched at the waist sister, Fannie Lawrence, suggested I prepare my feet for summer with ESPADRILLESECT, they've got espadrilles in every height, color, and style you can think of.
