Cool Cool White

I know you are feeling it too...the sticky sweaty effect of walking from your car and into the next building- Oh the perks of living in Houston. Yes, we drive everywhere, but summer heat is still somehow unbearable. I'm feeling Jen's Pirate Booty flowy white frocks...

Climb me up on these babies...

I've been craving to climb up some inches lately. The past month I've been laying low and trotting the NYC streets in flats and comfies...the heat, the potholes...what can I say, I just didn't want to scuff up my babies. My time in the city is up, so I shall climb back up for the rest of summer, hence my crush on these Pierre Hardy five inches...

Biscuits at Peels

As my first round of summer school has concluded its about time I share with you guys a little bit of New York that I will surely miss. Though I was mostly living off 0 Cafe next to school or The Juice Press smoothies, I did get to treat myself a little brunch at Peels, an adorable regional american eatery...translation: they have biscuits...

One Day

Diving into the different voices and worlds of the writers in my fiction workshop has taken me for quite a ride this June. Its quite an inspiration to absorb the diversity among other writers, I'm getting a bit emotional that my program is almost two thirds of the way through. I must admit I haven't only been reading work for my workshop, there is a marvelous love story I picked up last week, One day. David Nicholls's funny compassionate tale told through a twenty year relationship of two best friends destined to be together. A film adaption starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgees releases in theaters this summer.

Reading and Writing

My dearest apologies fellow readers, for the lack of post consistency on Cinched this month. An infinite amount of reading and writing has filled my days in the city of NYC as I complete a fiction writing workshop at the New School.

I would like to share one of my current Kindle downloads: Nicole Krauss' Great House, an amazing tale told through various characters. If you enjoy experimental fiction do pick up a copy, and check out her A History of Love.

Laser cut Wedgies

Adoring how adorably cinched Claudia Schiffer's ensemble is, I'm more so crushing on her Sergio Rossi wedgies. The walking life of NYC has given me a whole new appreciation for a wedged heel. The  even distribution of weight on your footsies makes these height givers less painful to walk in then a classic heel.

Tuliped

Curvy, pear-shaped, call it what you want to call it. Its when your voluminous hips mismatch your elfin  waist and chest. Story of my life. Thank heavens for Zara's tulip shaped frocks for summer.

Citrous

Pop colored accessories are one of my favorite ways to glisten an ensemble this season. Be it a neon handbag or glowing shoes, its a marvelous way to brighten up the summer.
Mischa Barton looks jaw dropping in Paule Ka ensemble, topping off her ying-yang dress with a splash of citrous wedges

Roof Readings

Though I've always find it hard to drift off to sleep except in complete silence, I'm sort of getting used to the never muting noise of New York City. I've never been able to figure out why, even twenty stories up I can hear every ambulance in the city.
"This is the city life, you need to get used to it" a friend said this morning. Note to self: buy ear plugs today. Though sleep has been tough to acquire, that is not what I came here for. One of the marvelous treats of residing in a hotel for the summer is that rowdy trendy garden areas that are usually filled with mimosa sipping babes are completely desolate on weekdays, making it a perfect getaway for studies...

Delikate Rayne

Growing up with a short attention span has often allowed me to get bored easily...leading me to have quite the eclectic taste in fashion. Boredom was terminated the second Delikate Rayne was dropped in my mailbox. My latest clothing label crush is Delikate Rayne, an energy filled line with pieces designed to transform any ensemble.

Embark on an adventure into the unfamiliar. Breach the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Dare to delve the shadows... Since the dawn of consciousness, mankind has been captivated by the mystery of the unknown. This collection is inspired by our shared fixation on ambiguity and illusion - the allure of what might be. In this effort, we pay homage to our native Los Angeles, tinseled town of fantasy spun real. -Delikate Rayne

The collection's standout piece is a garment that can be worn in multiple ways: a tank, dress, solid crop top, or topcrop with a graphic.

Books and Shoes

To further pursue academics I have jumped to the City of New York where I will be attending Summer Writer's Colony at the New School. Because of the brief length of the program finding a furnished place to live was quite the challenge. Therefore, just like Eloise at the Plaza, Cinched at the Waist will be living in a  boutique hotel located in Noho. Though thrilled by the perks of room service and safety in a hotel, I'm quite torn by the difference in size from Texas to New York...pretty sure my room is being occupied mostly by all the clothes I brought...

Thank you for a great summer residence Cooper Square Hotel!

Neos, Houston's original fro-yo shop

Though the froyo craze has swept across Houston with bubbly yogurt shops adorning every strip center, there is only one Cinched at the Waist frequently visits: Neos Yogurt. Serving nutritious yogurt for over twenty years the neighborhood gem was the first frozen yogurt shop to emerge in Houston in the 1980's

The scorching heat sweeping in summer always boils up a frozen treat craving, leading me straight to Neo's homemade World Class Vanilla froyo. At a mere 15 cals. per fl. oz, the yogurt is lactose free and fat free. For one of those splurge moments, i opt to accessorize my frozen treat with an array of toppings Neo's offers, ranging from fresh fruit to gourmet candy.

Disney Lids

Of all the wildest makeup creations I've come across, this by far takes home the cake. How would you feel about having your favorite Disney film depicted on your eye lids? (Fashionista)
