Tom Ford Beauty

Thomas Carlyle, better known as Tom Ford, defined double breasted chic fashion of the nineties as creative director of Gucci.   In 2005 the Texan native launched his own brand, TOM FORD, starting with men's ready to wear has since expanded women's RTW and accessories, currently holding forty nine freestanding stores throughout the world. In fall of 2011,  TOM FORD Beauty is born, an alliance formed with Esteé Lauder with a complete make up and cosmetic collection.
Because it's become a known truth in the fashion world that anything Tom touches turns to gold, Cinched at the Waist ventured to Neiman Marcus for the debut of Tom Ford Beauty.
The Tom Ford Beauty look is intended to make a woman feel and look natural with a 'full on make up' look.  Hence the motto, 'nude is full on make up.' Three simple terms to remember with TOM FORD beauty: Radiant Skin, A flawless complexion, & Glamour with sensuous color.

Radiant Skin: begins with the intensive infusion daily moisturizer, revitalizing the eyes with the intensive infusion eye treatmentand illuminating the face with illuminating protective primer - all "intense infusion" products are composed of a special blend of antioxidants to help fight against the environment, and caffeine to help bring back firmness and diffuse fine lines.

TOM FORD MOISTURIZER  -  PRIMER  -  EYE TREATMENT
Flawless complexion: The look of TOM FORD beauty is based on creating symmetry. The line's most popular beauty product is Shade and Illuminate.  Unique in its class, Shade & Illuminate is the first product in the cosmetic industry to focus on contouring cheekbones. At Cinched at the Waist, were all about creating facial definition, with the allusion of high cheekbones.  Side note: Nancy uses at least three different shades of blush to accomplish the look. Bless TOM FORD beauty for offering one product to kill three birds with one: shade & illuminate.

Pajama-rama

It's about this time of year I begin my endless search for the perfect set of Christmas morning pajamas. The  important qualities of a good set of pj's to wear while tearing open christmas presents begins in style: pijama suit, the two piece set, the teddy, or the gown. Sexiness is of no requirement here, my Christmas tree is usually close to the fireplace, but for crying out loud who likes to freeze to death in their sleep? I never did understand the tiny lacy silky nonsense. The second most important pajama quality is texture...once I got me one of those cashmere jumpsuits when we spent Christmas eve in Bari, Italy (ugliest city in Italy, by the way)...but cashmere + gown comforters result in sauna beds...yuck.  So I tend to lean towards a good cotton-blend separates and a robe to cinch over it all.

One by Boutique Hotel Pajamas navy  -  rust
One by Hotel Boutique will only hurt your wallet by $600 buckarroos, don't worry they are going to make you pancakes in the am, haha...no but really, what kind of tricks does this wallet disastering set of pijamas have up its sleeves?

Gift Guide: The Cafe Table Book

For your red soled girlfriends or the manfriends that like to buy them for their ladyfriends, Cinched's Christmas gift of the year is by far the Christian Louboutin Book. Cinched gifted it to herself as an early Christmas present, what can I say, these new pythons were lonely. My favorite part was browsing through the featured designs and finding some of my great oldies. I even found a pair I remember telling my mom to buy in late 90's.

Like his amazing shoes, the CL book runs a little on the high end. If you don't want to spend that much on a fashionista reader here are some other fashion book options under $75...

It's Time to Give: 100 Gifts under $100

Just as I hope jolly old St. Nicholas reads Cinched at the Waist so that I don't have to keep mailing the north pole my wishlists, I hope you make your boytoys or friends read cinched for christmas gift hints...

BCBG Max Azria Holiday Bash

Charmed by the colored lace pieces, feather adorned accessories, and leg contouring leggins, Cinched developed quite the crush on BCBG Maxaria. At the brand ambassador bash young dolls shopped trends away with macarroons and champagne, while Cinched had the pleasure of meeting a dear reader, Andrea.  Andrea was sporting the coolest military-esque leggings, "it seems that the military look is dying, but I'm trying to bring it back"--we agree Andrea, it will never die. These leg contouring leggings make a darling go-to pant for the winter.

Current Trends, Vintage Pieces

Though my child bearing hips tend to lean away from pleats, this fall's accordion pleats trend has altered my liking. With an accented waist the accordion pleated pieces make a great contrast in volumizing an ensemble. Its really all about balancing the cinching and the volume in one's outfit. Were loving the simple pairing of a bold pleated skirt with a cardigan via Taylor Swift or the leather pairing of a collared accordion pleated dress via StockholmStreet Style.
Which ever way you pair it, the trend can flatter all body types. Check out the one of a kind accordion pleated dresses under $30 from 5 Stack Vintage...

Happy gobble gobble to all! Stay silly and be thankful for the sillyness in your life!
Darling favs from the Green Gatsby's Smilebooth...

Collared Dress, via 3 ways

Via black cardigan, bejeweled sweater, or plain jane on its own my favorite fall piece is none other than Wish Boutique's collared dress. Channeling the iconic miu miu collar look or pilgrim collar trend, I was happy to snag this piece at Wish Boutique for under fifty buckaroos (and if you mention Cinched get it for $25!). This darling mini dress comes in an array of colors and prints.
There's a story behind these knee cap hiding Fendi boots...notice the little buckle on the side saggin--late august my mother made us wander from Como to an outlet mall in Switzerland-- obviously in Houston weather I haven't needed them till now and noticed the faulty buckle-- damn you outlets.

To Shop: 5 Stack Vintage

We've all heard the expression, "they just don't make them like this anymore," in reference to vintage, well Cinched says, "you just don't find them at this price anymore" in reference to vintage. My lovely readers, wander over to 5 Stack Vintage, the ultimate source to vintage goods that has launched today.  Founded by two Houstonian entrepreneurs, 5 Stack Vintage is composed unique treasures ranging from menswear shirts, knits, jackets to women's dresses, blouses, and outerwear....all of which are wallet friendly. From fur pieces to silk blouses, you will not find any of these treasures over $100.
"You know how people brag about how much they spend on an outfit, I like to brag about how little I spent on mine," says one of the founders while he sartorially stood in my office in a vintage jacket, cuffed jeans, and leather tennies. As perfect representatives of 5 Stack Vintage, I picked up incredible styling tips from the founders: mixing vintage couture pieces with currents trends to create one of a kind look...

Daisys and Jays...

What an amazing turn out The Green Gatsby came to be. Thanks to all the Daisys and Jays that came to flap the night away for the conservancy of Herman Park. I'd like to thank my stunning co-chairs for their marvelous work: with deliciously prepared bites on Georgea's side, tune blasting DJ found by Elizabeth, and jaw dropping sorted decorations by Lindley, the evening was a great success.

Aside from the marvelous turnout, I was most smitten with the sartorial crowd...

CrOp David Peck

Local designers find a dear place in my fashion ruled heart, especially when a label is environmentally conscious, making CrOp by David Peck Cinched's current label crush. Crop by David Peck is composed of  feminine pieced  silhouettes in a melody of prints. For every collection he partners with an organization in order to give back.  I was delighted to meet the designer and chat about his New Orleans inspired Spring 2012 collection in which portion of its sales will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network. "I think fashion can be a bit selfish," Peck, who taught himself how to sow, initially never planned on designing clothes, but when he did, he wanted to do something different.
David designs in collaboration with creative minds who value giving back and support a cause that in turn lands as the inspiration behind each season’s collection.

Started in 2010 with a just a few pieces, CrOp utilizes socially responsible and sustainable, eco-friendly materials including organic merino wool knit, satin jersey, fine count organic pima cotton, fine natural silks, organic wool twill, and fair trade textiles. A majority of the fabrics are made in the United States and each fabric is selected for its durability and low impact on the environment.

H&M Versace Deprivation

Though rated as one of America's best shopping cities, Houston still slacking in high fashion offerings. With an array of retail and shopping hubs within Htown, we Houstonians took great offense when the european retailer made its Texas debut this summer in none other than Dallas...grrrr.  Cinched at the Waist explores how H&M loving Houstonians are handling the Versace for H&M debut...Our intern, Nancy, tells us her story:

I've traveled near and far from Germany to Dallas to California to Boston... also, shamelessly, having my husband shop for me at three different locations in NYC.

As Versace debuts in the US at select stores on Saturday, I will, unfortunately, have to miss the collaboration between Donatella Versace and H&M. Three of my close friends who will be in the vicinity of an H&M will try to snag an item or two of my 'items I must have or will die' wish list.

Cinch it to the Side

Not only has this amazeballs mashup got me wishing I could belt this pretty, but I'm into the side-pony. Sleek the mane down and cinch it on the side is what Glee's hair artists were thinking. I tend to feel baren with my hair up, but I went ahead and cinched my mane with a cloud-full of Kerastase expanseur spray.... resulting in a side messy concoction...

I-f you're friendly, let's talk
Side it, my ponyyy

Gift Ideas: Cynthia Dugan

For your besties or self, Cynthia Dugan pieces at Katia Boutique make  darling gifts this season. I'm majorly crushing on the jasper stones necklace, I'm thinking cinching my neck in this stunning piece will distract from the bulky sweaters hiding my post- thanksgiving belly.

Great Gatsby redux: The 1920s flapper look makes a 21st century comeback

From Woody Allen’s highest grossing film, Midnight in Paris, to the inspiration behind fashion’s biggest spring 2012 ready-to-wear collections, the 1920s are making a comeback. Houston’s Urban Green takes on the trend with its fall soiree, "The Green Gatsby,"benefitting Hermann Park Conservancy, Thursday night at Miller Outdoor Theatre....As CultureMap fashion contributors and co-chairs of "The Green Gatsby" event, Lindley and I went in search of flapper garb to wear to the party. We found it at BHLDN in Highland Village. Stepping into the store, the first in the nation for a new bridal concept from the owners of Anthropologie, is like taking a stride back in time. Glamour abounds, from the elaborate white swan fixtures in the windows to the gorgeous party dresses and separates on hangers (Culturemap).
Sequins, feathers, and shapeless silhouettes defined the carefree post-war decade. Known as the jazz age, the roaring music and booze-filled era is associated with a glamorous style that influences many of today’s trends. Fashion houses from Ralph Lauren to Gucci have debuted an array of fringe-filled, feather-adorned and shapeless silhouettes in their collections.

Cinched for Men: Gatsby Garb

An array of my favorite young lads have been seeking sartorial advice for thursday evening. For those of you that want to make me proud and dig up a vintage three piece suit, I've provided some visual inspiration bellow. The rest of you slackers, I know you have better things to worry about like the five fantasy football teams you're managing, here is some easy advice...
There are basically three 1920's looks that are easy to execute: the preppy Tom Buchanan, the flashy Jay Gatsby, or the Speakeasy sleazy...
Tobey Maguire, Leonard Dicaprio, and Joel Edgerton filming The Great Gatsby
1.  Tom Buchanan is obviously dressed to his pedigree...he's a high class snob/ real piece of sh** of the 20's, in a high buttoned three piece crisp navy suit. Those fancy pants out there get out your fancy 3 piece suits, find a vest to wear under your normal suit, orrrr get yourself a Scotch&Soda Blazer w fake gilet

Dont Miss: Urban Green's The Green Gatsby

Daisys and Jays will be dancing and toasting thursday evening at Outdoor Miller Theater stage for Urban Green's The Green Gatsby. Bring out your flapper best, and join us.  Silent auction items from David Peck, Uchi, ROAK, Ceron Salon, and many more you wont want to miss. Get your tickets now!
Cinched will be dancing the charleston in BHDLN's Tracy Reese Flower Dipped Dress,  Python CL's, and drowning myself in pearls...What are you wearing thursday?

Sweaty Party

Because we all have those friends that think they are hilarious hosting a tacky sweater fiesta this December, Cinched has found an array of knitted goods to be sartorially tacky with. Let's begin with Thanksgiving, Topshop's got it good with a Thanx jumper to cover the ever growing bellies we won't be cinching on November 24th. Once we survive the glutenous holiday, it shall be time to cinch ourselves in snowflakes, red, green, and anything jolly. I can't promise these knits will get your kissed under the mistletoe, but you might as well try...

1) Markus Lupfer snowflake sequined merino wool: a perfect skiing companion for all you fancy travelers this holiday  break  -  2) Topshop Thanx Jumper: give thanx to your loved ones for the belly full of jelly post thanksgiving dinner  -  3) Markus Lupfer Wreath: for when you'd like to channel your kindergarden teacher with a dog and christmas wreath across your chest  -  4) TopShop Squirrel hide your nuts! -  5) Markus Lupfer: sequins tends to tackle the glitzy tackyness of christmas that we all know and love

Weekend Crushes

Nothing thrills me more than celeb style. While most get a high off reading about who will be keeping the tasteless ring from the Kardashian divorce, I get a high off the red carpet struts. I share with you this weekend's red carpet walking cinched waists...

Fancy Shmancy NANCY

News Flash News Flash!  Read all about it!
A new blogger voice for Cinched at the Waist is on the prowl to cinch waists!
Vanessa Bruno boots   -   Zara trousers   -  Trenchcoat
When I saw these knee-high ribbon-tied boots I knew they were going to be an absolute necessity!  Lo-and-behold, they have yet to disappoint.  I've paired them with mini skirts, pencil skirts, skinny jeans and tights.  Colored skinny jeans are the perf look for the fall/winter season - that is, if the fall and winters seasons plan on making an appearance in Houston.

Having a classic trench will never fail you.  No fancy label is necessary, but if you must, do as Suri Cruise says, "Everyone knows that the most respectful way to wear Burberry is as the lining in a classic coat."

Flappin Gucci

Flapper this, flapper that. Cinched has got flapper on the brain.
Might it be Urban Green's upcoming The Green Gatsby soiree (Nov. 17th@Miller Outdoor Theater)  or the 1920's inspired spring 2012 collections from Gucci and Ralph Lauren. Either way, I'm really just dressing to dance the Charleston this week. Now if only Santa Claus could lend me one of these Gucci frocks...and if he doesn't read CATW, then I've found us some wallet friendly options coming soon...

Wrist Cinching

Be it a statement watch like Gabriela, an array of beads per Sarah Aghili, or just stacking all your favorite pieces in cooperation, wrist adornment can be quite the stack. I must admit I feel bare and naked when my wrists aren't cinched. It's possible my bracelets are the only way my hands stay attached to my arms,  which is why I appreciate the way cinchedwaist readers cinch their wrists...

Lordy lordy, look who met Tory

NM Galleria was swarmed by fans of all ages thursday afternoon (including Cinched at the Waist), to meet the beautiful and creative genius behind the apparel and accessories line Tory Burch. Sneaking a peek at her resort collection and demonstrating how to wear her current collection, the designer and Ken Downing charmed the Tory Burch wearing crowd. Reporting from front row, cinched's got dibs on what you missed...

Color this Block

Early this summer I came across an incredibly color blocked gal at Tooties. Head to toe in David Peck with purple to ink hues, her midi skirt and flowy blouse define color blocking. Not to mention her manicure matched as well...I've tried channelling this look several times but have been an epic fail, let's bow down people...she's stunning.

stay tuned for more cinched waists across town...

Spiked

So long pepper spray, a new self defense weapon is available to those of us with sartorial footsies. Next time one of the awful blind dates your bestie set you up with starts creepin, just jab him in the calf with one of these babies...don't worry, the hidden platform allows you to run away in speed. Joooking. Heavens forbid we ever find ourselves in such an predicament...Ruthie Davis platforms are pretty radical to pair with a deep ink denim or hip cinching LBD.
But seriously, next time your manfriend is annoying you, just accidentally/on purpose step on him.

Sliced

Le gypsy look of a floor sweeping skirt didn't appeal to me until they were sliced. The high slit maxi is the only way to go these days ladies. A sneak peak at your limbs flatters us shorties trying to address the maxi skirt trend. Thank heavens for the lunge matrices I practice with Lisa three times a week, I can finally show off my hard work...
