Local designers find a dear place in my fashion ruled heart, especially when a label is environmentally conscious, making CrOp by David Peck Cinched's current label crush. Crop by David Peck is composed of feminine pieced silhouettes in a melody of prints. For every collection he partners with an organization in order to give back. I was delighted to meet the designer and chat about his New Orleans inspired Spring 2012 collection in which portion of its sales will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network. "I think fashion can be a bit selfish," Peck, who taught himself how to sow, initially never planned on designing clothes, but when he did, he wanted to do something different.
David designs in collaboration with creative minds who value giving back and support a cause that in turn lands as the inspiration behind each season’s collection.
Started in 2010 with a just a few pieces, CrOp utilizes socially responsible and sustainable, eco-friendly materials including organic merino wool knit, satin jersey, fine count organic pima cotton, fine natural silks, organic wool twill, and fair trade textiles. A majority of the fabrics are made in the United States and each fabric is selected for its durability and low impact on the environment.
I was lucky enough to meet the talented designer last week at the launch of his Holiday Sale at The Do Bar.
