Get it While It's NOT: Sachin+Babi

Get it while it's NOT...not yet in retail via Moda Operandi: Sachin + Babi.
A recent hop across the pond has me pondering the basic slash boring concoctions I refer to as ensembles. What is it about European women that makes them so darn beautiful and cute, pairing a multitude of colors or prints in one look that is executed in an overall relaxed look. Damn it, I want to be Euro. Inspired by the gorgeous women of Spain, I will take on a challenge of mixing the odd together. Mastering a cocktail of prints should only be left to professionals, which is why we should take detailed notes and learn from the geniuses over at MO with A Master Mix: tribal print and "Sing the body eclectic in master mix of global-chic looks. Showcasing exotic animal prints and artisanal-inspired patterns, this curated collection embodies a nomadic spirit fit for the modern world traveler"

Poke My Dots

Aside from the obvious tormenting weather swelling our limbs fat, there are various reasons to give our toes a break and show the tomboy within us all by making a splash in sneakers. Superga made a huge comeback, and I want to poke dots all over town with their House of Holland collaboration: Black & White Dot Sneakers.

Traveling Trio

Summer time days are wrapping up, and most of us are trying to squeeze in as many home town disappearances as possible...along telling everyone else back home about it. With an instant sense of life, my generation has cut off after trip adventure telling into instant, streaming "check out where I am" images via insta-graham crackers. In theme of an instant pleasure, I have changed my rules of travel via souvenirs or gifts. As opposed to bringing back loved ones a glass of sand, I LOVE t-shirt, or lousy airport gift... I'm going to gift them BEFORE traveling. BOOM. Insta-souvenirs from Henri Bendel, because what better gift than one that will make your gift recipient's next travel journey more accommodating. My favorite of Henri Bendel travel goodies: the travel trio includes a bag for your lingerie, laundry, and shoes.

Bones Feel Alive

A heavy weight has been lingering in my tummie as a result of planning for the month of fat magazines, September. Anxiety, excitement, and fear all roll into one, making me a kiddo counting down till Christmas Day.Yet to finish Summer it has been tough to resist wearing the plums and yellows Fall 2012 fashion is landscaped in. Last night in attempt to subtly dress for dinner, a violet mini made it (them) rain...my sweat glands, that is. And so my September fever has been cured with a sweaty lesson: it's too early to sport pre-fall in Texas. Until September, let's stick to the hues that make our bones just feel alive: neons and pastels.

Sin or Win: the mesh bootie

As a Houston resident, these record breaking temps have me looking forward to an open toe or sweaty bootie Fall. Thank the fashion heavens for the mesh bootie, a breathable delicate ankle hugging boot that will trot us into a sweaty fall. Should we sin with Charlotte Olympia minetta lace and satin or opt for a less wallet cinching cutie from ASOS?

Paris, Always a Good Idea

As my favorite Audrey Hepburn character once said, "Paris is always a good idea, " especially for a fashion student. While in Paris last February, I bailed on the Jardin des Tuilerie one afternoon and skipped to a darling Parisian neighborhood to tour Ecole Parsons a Paris, where David Peck studied Fashion Design. Click over to Scoop David Peck Collection to read about my campus adventure in a Mardis Gras print Harriet skirt...

Before heading to Ecole Parsons a Paris, I grabbed a sammie (sandwhich) with LA at a bistro that perfectly flattered the Mardi Gras print. It was Mardis Gras in Paris at Bistro Francois Felix!

Dulce de Leche

Forced upon indoor activities due to a rainy and stormy week, cooking slash eating are on the top of my extra curricular activities. Who am I kidding, the giant fat kid that lives inside me will come up with any excuse to fill my schedule with cooking slash eating. Blame it on the rain, or just the leather hue on the tip of my toes to inspire me to cook slash eat...dulce de leche...

In need of a formula that will result in a caramel hued delight, turn to the god of all recipe blogs, Smitten Kitchen for a Dulce de Leche Ice cream recipe...

Cupcake Inspired, Cinched Approved

Twenty something years in and I have yet to lose my sweet tooth. This week, a sugary theme has splattered my wardrobe, and what better treat to start than with a dessert that is purely aesthetically pleasing, a cupcake. With a strawberry satin base, a silk white and luscious camisole spilled over the waist cinching band = strawberry cake base + white vanilla icing.

"You kinda do look like a cupcake, a strawberry one." - manfriend. This might be why last time I inhaled a cupcake this happened...

Sunday School, Comfort Food

For some it's fried chicken, biscuits, or even grits. For those of us aliens residing in this great country, comfort food an be hard to find, and mine at the time is upsetting my mood. It's been over a week and my sore loser feelings of the Euro 2012 just wont evaporate. All I can think about is how sad Mario Balotelli was after the horrifying 4-0 loss. My inner fat kid always turns to calories for comfort, but my favorite dish only makes me more upset. Bitter sweet really...now I must find another source of comfort...until then, I share with you my favorite of all time dishes, the ever so simple, caprese.

Red & White Too

What could be more patriotic than spending a mid week Holiday celebrating with family and friends over barbeque, spirits, and adornments? I sure felt American celebrating the birth of this divine nation over a NOT so waist-cinching snack composed of marshmallow and cereal: red, white, and blue Rice Krispies treats!
Clockwise: Pool side with family and friends soaking rays...played with my brunette sisters A&K...spotted a favorite little white waist-cinching dress (visit Katia for details)... made a US of A dessert flag... and enjoyed bbq short ribs with my favorite siblings!
How did you spend last week?

Get it while it's NOT, Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony never ceases to charm with girl next door easy-wear, especially with a Resort 2013 collection stamped in not so mello yellows and blue prints.  You know those darn girls that look like they belong on instagram but don't even need cool filters or photo edits? They are probably in Opening Ceremony. Snag Opening Ceremony's waist cinching pieces while it's NOT yet at retailers via Moda Operandi.

Fuzzy Shoes No Longer Bedwear

We must give our home girl Blake props for proving false the old 'fuzzy heeled slippers are for bedroom only' rule. Footwear covered in hot magenta fuzz is usually well accessorized with fat pants and a pint of ice cream on a friday night (I know you all have a fuzzy pink puffy comfy pair of slippers, or dare I say it a pair of Uggs), but when a strap cinches your ankle sexy and a  pink heel elevates you five inches taller, we have to assume that Mr. CL is to blame for this ridiculous new shoe rule I'm immediately going to live by. Damn you CL encouraging us all to look lean and mean in magical slippers.

Star-ed & Striped

Color blocking is so 2011! This year, in pursuit of a denim update, I look to Nordstrom for a perfect patriotic ensemble. With printed denim from Current Elliott, J Brand, and Citizens of Humanity in an array of styles, Nordstrom is the ultimate source in updating my patriotic look from colored to printed! Thanks to the eclectic selection of blouses at Nordstrom,  it's easy to find a darling top to pair with an updated denim look...with USA printed across, gingham flare, or a classic white blouse, Equipment and Free people are a few of the fashion headlined brands to pull of a patriotic uniform with. To complete my an overall look, I couldn't help the goodies in Nordstrom's beauty department... address the holiday on your digits with lacquers from Butter London's red & blue hues!

Because fashion is a way to celebrate our freedom of expression, let's celebrate the 4th with patriotic style!
